Canada: Alcoholic beverage sales decline

Alcohol beverage sales in Canada totaled €2.6 billion, reflecting a 1.4% decrease, while total volume dropped 3% to 217 million liters. The SAQ reported a 2.4% year-over-year drop in sales across its stores and specialty centers, with a 4.6% decline in volume, attributing the trend to evolving consumer purchasing habits.

Online sales rose 2.6% to €75 million, though consumer sales volume declined 3.6%. The average price per liter increased by 1.6%. Meanwhile, sales through the supermarket wholesale network grew 9.7% to €230 million. In the hospitality sector, spirits volume fell by 1.9%, with only whiskey and vodka maintaining stable sales.
