Germany: drinktec 2028 opens exhibitor registration with expanded offering

Registration for drinktec 2028 is now open. The international beverage and liquid food industry will meet in Munich from 11 to 15 September 2028. Following the 2025 edition, which attracted trade visitors from 164 countries, the trade fair is broadening its scope with additional focus areas, including raw materials and formulations, liquid food, quality assurance and IT security. The event runs under the new claim “Fluent in Innovation.”

“As a sponsor, we look forward to preparing the next edition together with YONTEX and the exhibiting industry,” says Johannes Schmid-Wiedersheim, Managing Director of VDMA Food Processing and Packaging Machinery. All leading companies of the international beverage and liquid food industry are expected to attend.

Market forecasts support the outlook. According to Statista Market Insights, global revenue from non-alcoholic beverages is projected to grow from around EUR 1.32 trillion in 2026 to around EUR 1.52 trillion in 2030, an increase of 15 percent. Revenue from alcoholic beverages is also forecast to rise through 2030. “The next generation of equipment must enable products that in part are not yet in manufacturers’ portfolios today,” says Markus Kosak, Executive Director of drinktec.
Raw materials, additives and functional ingredients for beverage development will play a larger role. The range covers vitamins, minerals, fibres, proteins, amino acids, prebiotics and probiotics, as well as algae, soy and fruit and vegetable extracts. drinktec will thus also cover product development and formulation more fully, beyond process, filling and packaging technology.
The liquid food segment will be expanded to include technologies for edible oils, vinegar, sauces and seasonings, covering individual process steps as well as complete production lines. The segment will be shown separately in the hall plan. Statista forecasts global revenue from oils and fats to rise from around EUR 217 billion in 2026 to nearly EUR 278 billion in 2030.
Laboratory technology and product analysis will be expanded to address demand for precise quality control and data-based production. This includes inline systems, sample preparation, laboratory equipment, automation, software and documentation systems. Further focus areas are simulation and digital twins, AI-based system solutions and other IT applications, and cybersecurity for production plants. Technologies for utilising residual materials, such as solids recovery and energy generation from by-product streams, will also be featured.
drinktec 2028 returns to its twelve-hall concept in the A and B halls of Messe München, accessible via the East and West entrances. Related technologies will be grouped to help visitors navigate. The Liquidrome knowledge area will return, offering keynotes, start-ups and deep dives over the five days of the show.
