Irestal Group Appoints Alberto Borque as CEO of Thielmann Portinox

Following the acquisition of Thielmann Portinox by Irestal Group, the Board has appointed Alberto Borque as Chief Executive Officer. His leadership is expected to strengthen the company’s international position and support growth in innovation and sustainability.

Irestal Group has confirmed the appointment of Alberto Borque as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Thielmann Portinox, based in Granada, Spain. The announcement follows Irestal Group’s recent acquisition of the stainless steel container manufacturer.

Borque has been part of the organization since 2013 and has held several key positions across operations and business development. Most recently, he served as Director of Operations for Thielmann Group and Managing Director of Thielmann Portinox Spain. In these roles, he oversaw transformation projects, business expansion, and operational improvements.

Joaquim Boixareu, President and CEO of Irestal Group, emphasized Borque’s contribution to the company’s success: “Alberto Borque has demonstrated exceptional leadership and a deep understanding of the business throughout his career. We are confident that, under his leadership, Thielmann Portinox will continue to strengthen its market position and move towards new achievements.”

In his first statement as CEO, Borque expressed both commitment and optimism. He highlighted his priorities as expanding the company’s international presence, enhancing its value proposition, and driving innovation and sustainability in collaboration with Irestal Group.

Thielmann Portinox is recognized as one of the world’s leading designers and manufacturers of stainless steel containers. Operating from its Granada facility, the company produces beverage kegs, standardized pressure vessels, intermediate bulk containers (IBCs), and drums for hazardous substances. Its customer base extends across the food, chemical, and pharmaceutical industries, with more than 60 years of experience in serving global markets. In addition, Thielmann Portinox manufactures stainless steel sanitary ware under the Portinox brand and maintains service centers in the United Kingdom and the United States.

Irestal Group, founded in 1945 and owned by the Boixareu family, introduced stainless steel to the Spanish market. Today, its operations focus on two main areas: the processing and distribution of stainless steel products, and the production of welded stainless steel tubes for industries such as food, chemical, automotive, and solar thermal energy. The company operates 20 distribution centers across Europe, employing more than 300 people. Its main service center in Abrera (Barcelona) spans 40,000 m² and is equipped with a logistics system designed to deliver Irestal products within 48 hours.

The appointment of Alberto Borque marks a significant step in aligning Thielmann Portinox with Irestal Group’s broader industrial vision, combining decades of expertise with renewed focus on innovation, sustainability, and global growth.
