Special thanks go to Sebastian Hohentanner (Bet Tech), a seasoned expert with deep ties to the Japanese brewing scene, as well as to the Japan Beer Association (JBA) and Masahiro Yamagami. Together, they have built an outstanding team of trainers and successfully anchored the program in Japan’s beer and hospitality landscape.
The course is structured in four modules, held primarily on weekends. For the final module in spring 2025, Dr. Michael Zepf from the Doemens Academy traveled to Tokyo to teach alongside Sebastian Hohentanner and Masahiro Yamagami and to conduct the final oral and written exams.
15 dedicated participants – including brewers, beer judges, wine and sake sommeliers, as well as bar and restaurant managers – successfully completed the training and were awarded the internationally recognized Beer Sommelier certificate.
