In the first six months of 2024, the owner of Suntory Global Spirits confirmed that sales in its alcoholic beverage segment increased by 3.5%, reaching 3 billion euros. The spirits segment comprises spirits, beer, wine and other alcoholic beverages with brands such as Maker's Mark, Jim Beam, Roku, Hornitos and Chita. Suntory Holdings' chief operating officer Toru Miyanaga said the company highlighted Germany and India as countries with good performance for its spirits in markets outside Japan as well as in global travel retail.
However, he confirmed the United States as a market currently on a downward trend. Without giving specific figures, Suntory Holdings mentioned Yamazaki and Hibiki (Japanese whiskies), Jim Beam (bourbon), Teacher's (Scotch), Oaksmith (Indian whiskey) and On the Rocks (RDT) as brands that showed positive growth. However, RTD beverages were notable for continuing their upward trajectory as the company expanded distribution to the United States, Europe and Southeast Asia.
