Argentina: Wine exports fall to their lowest level since 2009

According to the National Institute of Viticulture (INV), 2025 ended with the worst export performance in the last 15 years: wine shipments totaled just 550 million euros, 7.2% less than in 2024, and the exported volume fell to 1.9 million hectoliters, representing a 6.8% year-on-year decrease.

According to the INV (National Institute of Viticulture), this situation is due to a combination of lower global consumption, rising prices in dollars, and a loss of competitiveness. The € 550 million represents the lowest export value since 2009, while the record still belongs to 2012, with € 770 million, followed by 2021, when €7 50 million was reached. In 2025, even the average price per liter, which could have offset this negative trend, fell slightly from € 2.88 to € 2.85. In December, however, bottled wine exports grew by 10.8%, but bulk wine shipments plummeted by 29.5%. In terms of value, the month closed with €47 million, just 3.9% more than in December 2024. According to Argentine analysts, the cause of this phenomenon is structural, due to the slowdown in the two largest global markets: the United States and China.
