Brazil: Coca-Cola FEMSA fully reopens Porto Alegre plant

Coca-Cola FEMSA has announced the full reopening of its plant in Porto Alegre, Brazil, marking a key milestone in its recovery efforts following the devastating floods in Rio Grande do Sul in May 2024.

“The reopening of our plant in Porto Alegre is a reflection of the incredible resilience, hard work, and collaborative spirit of our entire team and partners,” said Eduardo Pereyra, Chief Operating Officer of Coca-Cola FEMSA in Brazil. “This is not just about restoring production capacity, but also about ensuring the well-being of our employees and contributing to the region’s development.”

The facility, which had partially resumed operations in late 2024, is now running at full capacity, offering its entire product portfolio once again. The reopening was made possible through an ambitious €150 million investment plan for Rio Grande do Sul, with €110 million allocated to the plant’s reconstruction and modernization, and €40 million dedicated to broader operational improvements in the region.
