Colombia: Bavaria brewery produces 100% of its beer with solar energy

The Bavaria brewery, founded in 1876 by two German brothers, two years ago committed to fulfilling an ambitious project of producing 100 percent of its beers with solar electric energy by 2024.

Today that promise is a reality and the agreement, which is already implemented and in operation, will allow Bavaria to supply its energy needs for the next 15 years.

The project includes seven breweries, two malt houses and a label factory located in different cities throughout the national territory. “Fulfilling this promise to the country represents a great reason to toast. Now 100 percent of our beers and malts are produced with solar electric energy, an inexhaustible source that translates into a more natural, inclusive and local future for Colombians," said Sergio Rincón, president of Bavaria.

The renewable electric energy used by Bavaria is generated by the Guayepo solar park, located in Ponedera and has an installed capacity of 221 MW.
