Mexico: Heineken Aims for Zero Emissions Across the Entire Production Chain

Heineken Mexico has made decarbonization a cornerstone of its environmental strategy, setting clear goals: zero emissions across the entire production chain by 2040.

In recent years, the company has implemented new technologies at every stage of its brewing process, from agriculture and production to packaging, transportation, and refrigeration, to identify areas for emissions reduction.

In agriculture, for example, since 2021, it has focused on strengthening farmers' capabilities, promoting the adoption of sound environmental, social, economic, and management practices. Currently, many of its producers hold the Farm Sustainability Assessment certification from the Sustainable Agriculture Initiative (SAI), which has led to the implementation of high-tech fertilizers, resulting in a reduced carbon footprint across more than 30,000 hectares.

Through its Heineken Green Challenge program, the company has decided to accelerate and support Mexican startups with projects that aim to solve environmental challenges. Since 2018, Heineken has received more than 4,000 projects and over 120 startups, fostering an ecosystem with high social and environmental impact.
