Mexico: Tecate Brewery Becomes First Plant in Latin America to Achieve Water Balance

Heineken Mexico announced that its brewery in Tecate has successfully replenished all the water used to produce its beer.

This milestone makes the Tecate plant the first brewery to achieve this goal, which was projected for 2030. This achievement reaffirms Heineken's commitment to sustainability and the preservation of watersheds in regions currently experiencing drought.

In 2024, 77% of the water used in water-stressed areas was replenished, representing significant progress toward achieving water balance across all Heineken plants in Mexico. This project, which began in 2018, has also generated a significant improvement in the biodiversity of the area where the brewery is located, thanks to the restoration of water flow to areas that suffered from water scarcity for years.
