Mexico: Tequila exports to the U.S. remain stable despite tariffs

Despite the tariff measures introduced by U.S. President Donald Trump, tequila exports to the United States have remained unaffected. The U.S. continues to be the primary destination for tequila, accounting for 84% of total exports.

According to the Tequila Regulatory Council (CRT), exports rose from 75 million liters in the first quarter of 2024 to 89 million liters in the same period of 2025—an increase of 14 million liters.

In parallel, major Mexican producers are working with the CRT to diversify export markets, aiming to strengthen trade ties with countries such as China, India, and the Dominican Republic.
