Although this category of beer has been produced in the country for 20 years, it has only been since 2017 that the market began to strengthen. According to data from the Ecuadorian Brewery Association (Asoserv), there are currently 240 registered craft beer brands in the country.
This makes the industry an important generator of sources of work with 1,650 direct workers and 8,000 indirect workers, including brewmasters, administrators, distribution personnel, direct sales point personnel, among others.
Nearly six million liters of craft beer are produced in Ecuador, representing 1.06 percent of the national market share.
However, despite difficulties, such as high tariffs on the import of raw materials, the industry has managed to position itself and achieve annual growth of between 17 percent and 20 percent.
