Brazil: Craft beer needs less tax

In the midst of a scenario of increased production costs, caused mainly by the increase in the value of raw materials and imported inputs, as well as by inflation, craft beer is valued even more in Brazil.

However, specialists warn that the problem is not related to the current economic situation but rather to the high tax burden that affects small companies in the sector.

The president of the Brazilian Association of Craft Beer (Abracerva) in a statement has highlighted the need for taxation to be reduced for producers of special beers, noting that the tax rate on craftsmen is currently 56%.

The reduction of the tax burden would have a direct impact on the price of craft beers, making them more competitive in relation to those produced by the big brands.
