The programme, run by FranceAgriMer, has attracted about 5,800 applications, mainly from south-western regions and largely affecting red grape varieties.
Around 37% of the vineyards will be removed بالكامل, while 63% will see partial uprooting to help producers adjust supply. The initiative is supported by €130 million in funding, with growers receiving €4,000 per hectare removed.
The move comes as the French wine sector faces declining consumption, especially for red wine, alongside broader structural and climate-related challenges, according to Connexion.
