Since April 2026, he has been working alongside long-serving Managing Director Richard Clemens, who will retire at the end of September after more than 30 years with the associations.
A graduate engineer, Schmid-Wiedersheim brings over two decades of leadership experience in the international trade fair industry. Most recently, he held senior positions at Messe Frankfurt, where he managed leading global trade fairs and international portfolios in food technology, environmental technology, and textile care.
“I am very much looking forward to my new responsibilities and the challenges they entail,” said Schmid-Wiedersheim. “Together with our member companies, I would like to further develop these strengths and build on them with an eye towards the future.”
The leadership transition is intended to ensure continuity while further strengthening the associations’ role as key representatives of the food processing, packaging machinery, and process engineering industries.
