Italy: AIS Launches First International English Edition of the Vitae Wine Guide

The Italian Sommelier Association (AIS) has introduced the first international, English-language edition of its renowned Vitae Wine Guide, marking a major step in bringing authoritative Italian wine expertise to a global audience. The 2026 edition was officially unveiled on November 15th at Stazione Leopolda in Florence, coinciding with AIS’s 60th anniversary.

Responding to strong international demand for reliable and accessible information on Italian wine, the new Vitae International edition provides a comprehensive digital overview of Italy’s key appellations, leading producers, and standout wines. Aimed at professionals, trade, media, and wine enthusiasts worldwide, the guide makes the complexity of Italian wine easier to navigate in major markets such as London, New York, Hong Kong, and Sydney.

“With the 2026 edition, we are bringing the uniqueness of our method to the world,” said Sandro Camilli, National President of AIS. “We are not simply publishing a digital English-language volume — we are sharing the collective expertise of thousands of sommeliers who know every corner of Italy’s wine regions. This depth of analysis is what makes Vitae a valuable tool for international buyers.”

The English edition follows the same evaluation method as the Italian guide, with tastings conducted by AIS regional commissions and ratings based on a 100-point scale. It features a curated selection of 400 wines, grouped into four categories: Great Italian Wines, Wines of Terroir, Revelation Wines, and Best Value Wines.

By launching Vitae International, AIS — Italy’s largest network of wine professionals — provides global readers with a trusted and authoritative reference for understanding the excellence and diversity of Italian wine. The presentation event in Florence gathered more than 300 featured producers, along with members of the press and industry professionals from Italy and abroad.
