Italy: Guala Closures Expands Manufacturing Footprint in Mexico

Guala Closures has acquired the Mexico-based screwcap manufacturing operations of Vinventions in Rosarito, strengthening its production footprint in North America and expanding supply capabilities for the U.S. wine and spirits market.

The Rosarito facility, established in 2024, produces high-quality 30x60 aluminium closures and has an installed annual capacity exceeding 200 million units, with room for future expansion. Its location provides direct access to the North American market, enabling shorter lead times and improved service levels for U.S. customers under favorable logistics and trade conditions.

Andrea Lodetti, CEO of Guala Closures, said the investment marks an important step in the company’s North American growth strategy. A dedicated production hub in Mexico, complementing the existing plant in San José Iturbide, will allow closer collaboration with U.S. customers and greater flexibility, particularly for small and mid-sized wineries requiring tailored supply solutions.

Guala Closures has operated in Mexico since 1979 through Guala Closures Mexico and, together with Guala Closures North America’s Fairfield facility, has supported wine and spirits producers across the U.S. market. The acquisition aligns with the group’s strategy to pursue targeted investments that reinforce its position in high-value beverage closure segments and key regional markets.
