Italy: SIMEI 2026 Expands Beer Focus Through Partnership with Consorzio Birra Italiana

SIMEI 2026 is strengthening its presence in the beer sector through a new partnership with Consorzio Birra Italiana, the national association representing agricultural producers, maltsters and independent breweries in Italy. The collaboration will be featured at the 31st edition of SIMEI, taking place from 17–20 November 2026 at Fiera Milano Rho.

A key addition to the programme is the launch of the Concorso Birra Italiana, a competition open to independent craft breweries that will recognise excellence in Italian brewing. The contest will award the best beers produced primarily with Italian malt and hops, while a special F.I.L.O. prize will highlight achievements within the domestic hop and barley supply chain.

The partnership also introduces a dedicated exhibition area focused on Italian-grown hops and related innovations. Organisers say the initiative reflects the growing importance of quality, innovation and local raw materials within the Italian brewing industry.

SIMEI, organised by Unione Italiana Vini, remains one of the leading international trade fairs for beverage processing and packaging technologies. The 2026 edition will also feature the debut of Bevertech, alongside dedicated programmes for the olive oil and distilling sectors and the return of the Innovation Challenge technology awards.
