The National Chamber of the Tequila Industry (CNIT) anticipates that the Mexican tequila market will face a slight contraction due to changes in the consumption habits of younger generations and increased competition from other alcoholic beverages.
The organization estimates that it will experience an average annual decline of 1% between 2025 and 2029 due to products that seek to imitate tequila, such as certain distilled spirits or liqueurs, which are gaining ground in the market, while other consumers opt for beverages like vodka, brandy, or rum.
In addition, ready-to-drink beverages have shown significant growth, while younger consumers are increasingly maintaining moderate alcohol consumption or opting for non-alcoholic options.
