Panama: Rum Production Falls, Whiskey and Cognac Sales Increase

According to data from the National Institute of Statistics and Census (INEC), rum production in Panama has decreased considerably.

Between January and August 2025, rum production fell by 37.1% compared to the same period in 2024, followed by gin (28.7%) and beer (11.9%).

However, a previous report published by the same institution confirmed that, from January to November 2024, the decline was 36.6%.

Experts state that this result is part of a broader trend in the Central American country, where a decrease in the production of other alcoholic beverages is also observed, except for some premium brands such as whisky and cognac, which increased significantly by 47% and 60%, respectively.
