United States: Mexican beverages lose ground

According to Barclays market research, Grupo Bimbo, Gruma, and José Cuervo faced sales declines in the United States, one of their main foreign markets, due to lower volumes, lower product prices, as well as changes in consumer preferences and pressure from local brands.

During March and April, sales of Mexican companies decreased between 9% and 3.5%. José Cuervo, the world's leading tequila producer, recorded the largest decline, with a 9% drop in sales of alcoholic beverages during the reference period.
