United States: Scotch Whisky Exports to the United States Fall by 3.7%

According to data from the Scotch Whisky Association (SWA), the value of Scotch whisky exports fell by 3.7% to € 5.5 billion in 2024, compared to 2023.

However, export volume increased by 3.9%, which, according to the SWA, showed a shift in consumer preferences despite a complex trading environment.

However, with the announcements and subsequent implementation of tariffs, the sector spent all of 2025 under Trump's shadow. Currently, the UK is subject to a 10% tariff on any product exported to the US. Whether due to tariffs or other factors, the impact has already begun to be felt among Scotch whisky producers: some have openly announced production pauses, while others are likely reducing production.

For this reason, the demand for Scotch whisky in the U.S. has generally moderated, although not uniformly across all states.
