This allowed to avoid importing raw material. As for the projections for the 2021/22 agricultural harvest, they are also positive due to the strong increase in planted areas and favorable weather conditions during the development of the crop that would allow a good harvest volume to be achieved. The planting area reached 185 thousand hectares, 12% above the 165 thousand hectares of the year 2019/2020 and just 2% below the largest historical area of cultivation in the country recorded in the 2016/17 harvest. The climatic conditions during the development of the crop were exceptional and made it possible to achieve a historical record average productivity of 4,800 kg/ha, which greatly exceeds the production results of previous years. Thus, the production of malting barley during the 2020/21 agricultural season reached 900,000 thousand tons and registered the largest historical volume of the crop in the country.
