The official ceremony was presided over by the President of the Republic. The new center joins the beverage concentrate plant that PepsiCo already operates in Colonia. These facilities produce essential ingredients for various beverage lines that are then exported to major markets in Latin America and other regions. In this way, Uruguay becomes a logistics and production hub for the company. Currently, PepsiCo directly employs more than 350 people in Colonia and Montevideo and is among the country's leading exporters, with annual sales abroad of nearly €700 million.
