Brazil: Refres Now acquires Cunnington for EURO 60 million

The Argentine company Refres Now, which produces soft drinks in the Amazonian capital of Manaus, confirmed the purchase of the historic tonic water and soft drink brand Cunnington for EURO 60 million.

The acquisition of Cunnington consolidates a trend among Argentine companies with increasing mergers and acquisitions of Brazilian companies in the beverage industry.

Founded in 1920, Cunnington began as a company dedicated to the production of bottled soda and ginger ale, whose flagship product is "Indian Tonic," achieved through negotiations with England to import the base concentrate for producing tonic water.
