The German Packaging Institute (dvi) has announced the 37 winners of the German Packaging Award 2025. With submissions spanning Europe, Asia and North America, this year’s competition set new benchmarks for creativity and technical excellence. The winners come from Germany, Iran, Austria, Switzerland and the USA, with further entries from countries including China, France, Italy, the UK and Turkey.
Across all materials and categories, the award-winning innovations demonstrate the full scope of packaging possibilities – from paper and cardboard to glass, metal, plastic and wood. The jury honoured solutions in ten distinct categories, including sustainability (14 winners), functionality (4), design (4), product presentation (3), and cost-effectiveness (3). The “New Material”, “Packaging Machines” and “Young Talent” categories also saw standout entries rewarded.
Bringing Innovation to Life
The awarded innovations reflect the diversity and relevance of modern packaging. From smart solutions for shipping, food and FMCG packaging to intelligent systems for construction materials, chemical liquids or even solar panels – the winners address real-world challenges with creativity and foresight. Whether it’s reusable systems, mono-material composites, or intuitive user interfaces, the innovations offer tangible benefits for consumers, companies and the environment.
Dr Natalie Brandenburg, Managing Director of the dvi, highlights the breadth of ingenuity:
“We see forward-looking solutions and new standards in so many areas – from closed-loop systems and recyclate applications to new bio-based materials and optimized user experiences. The entries show that, despite economic and ecological challenges, the packaging industry continues to drive progress with purpose.”
Mark Your Calendar: Award Ceremony at FACHPACK
The highlight of the awards season will take place on 23 September 2025 at FACHPACK in Nuremberg, where the dvi, together with premium partners FACHPACK and IGEPA group, will present the awards in person. The prestigious Gold Awards – honouring the most outstanding of all winners – will also be revealed live on stage. Attendance is free of charge, but registration is required.
