Mexico: Grupo Modelo mobilizes more than funds to promote sustainability

Grupo Modelo has invested more than € 25 million in the last five years to promote projects focused on responsible water management, sustainable agriculture, circular packaging, and climate action.

“At Grupo Modelo, we believe that progress in sustainability is achieved through concrete actions and collaboration throughout the entire value chain. Our global goals for 2025 were established to generate impact in key areas for our business and for the communities where we operate, such as water, agriculture, climate action, and packaging,” said Daniel Cocenzo, President of Grupo Modelo.

In Mexico, water is one of the central pillars of the sustainability strategy. Since 2017, Grupo Modelo has improved its water consumption per hectoliter of production by more than 40% in its operations.

As part of this commitment, through public-private projects in collaboration with GIZ (German Technical Cooperation) and Coca-Cola Mexico, which include a total investment of more than €20 million between 2021 and 2027, the company has filtered more than 14 million cubic meters of water by implementing nature-based solutions and sustainable agricultural practices.
