United States: Aircapture and Almanac Beer Team Up to Produce Carbonated Beer

Aircapture and California-based craft brewery Almanac Beer announced the launch of Flow – Clean Air Edition, the world’s first beer carbonated with CO₂ captured from the atmosphere on-site.

Installed at Almanac’s brewery in Alameda, California, Aircapture’s modular DAC unit extracts carbon dioxide from the ambient air and supplies beverage-grade liquid CO₂ (99.9 % purity, significantly exceeding industry standard specifications) directly to the brewing process.

In 2022, a nationwide carbon dioxide shortage disrupted operations and increased costs for food and beverage manufacturers, particularly affecting breweries. The cause was structural: most CO₂ comes from industrial processes linked to fossil fuels, such as ammonia or ethanol production. When these industries reduce their production or limit their supply, CO₂ emissions are significantly reduced. Aircapture's DAC system extracts CO₂ directly from ambient air and purifies it on-site to meet beverage quality standards.
